The Canadian Creative Accelerator will offer training, mentorship and financing access to emerging Canadian producers poised for growth.
The Canadian Creative Accelerator will provide five selected production companies from across Canada the opportunity to participate in four, weeklong sessions, taking place over the course of three months. Given the current public health concerns, the first iteration will be virtual, with subsequent groups participating in-market. The five selected participants will be announced during Content Canada’s Digital Summit and the program will begin the week of October 5.
“Los Angeles is globally recognized as the epicentre for media & entertainment and the Consulate is excited to launch the Canadian Creative Accelerator this fall to support Canadian producers in Hollywood”, said Zaib Shaikh, Consul General of Canada in Los Angeles. “This initiative will help Canadian content creators grow their companies and further develop their projects on the international stage. Having been part of the television and film industry for many years, I understand the tremendous value of accessing the American market through Los Angeles. The Canadian Creative Accelerator will enable our diverse home-grown talents the opportunity to share their stories with the world.”
“We are excited to partner with the Trade Commissioner Service on the launch of the Canadian Creative Accelerator”, said Ferne Cohen, Content Canada CEO. “We have always been committed to bringing the industry together to foster collaboration and partnership, while highlighting Canada’s role in the global content market. Now more than ever, we recognize how important it is to continue providing these meaningful opportunities for Canadian content creators.”
The initiative is open to Canadian producers who have at least one television project in development. Content Canada and the Canadian Creative Accelerator are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse environment.
Interested applicants must apply by August 24, 2020 to be considered for the first cohort. For more information, please email [email protected] or visit the application page.
