August 20, 2020 – Toronto. Renowned writer, director, producer and actor Paul Feig and Lionsgate Television’s Head of Scripted Development Scott Herbst will engage in an exclusive conversation at Content Canada’s Digital Summit on September 22.
Feig and Herbst will sit down virtually with C21 founder and Editor-in-chief David Jenkinson to discuss premium content in the streaming age, focusing on the slate of Lionsgate Television projects on which Feig and Herbst are collaborating.
Lionsgate has a long-standing relationship with Feig, having worked together on films and television series including the critically-acclaimed high-concept drama “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” for NBC, the HBO Max romantic comedy hit “Love Life” and the Lionsgate box office hit A Simple Favor starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively and Henry Golding.
Feig is the creator and producer-director behind the beloved TV series “Freaks and Geeks” and producer-director of the adored film Bridesmaids. He also created “Other Space,” a half-hour galactic adventure comedy that chronicles a misfit group of space adventurers who stumble upon an alternate universe, which is now available on DUST.
A strong activist for diverse voices on screen, most recently he has used his platform for good during the pandemic, supporting his hometown and charities with daily happy hours on Instagram called #QuarantineCocktailTime to lift spirits during these hard times. Feig’s recently launched digital content company, Powderkeg, aims to champion new voices with a commitment to female, LGBTQIA+ creators and filmmakers of color. Their first projects include the Muslim-American digital short form series “East of La Brea” and the Powderkeg: Fuse program, which produced six short films written and directed by diverse female filmmakers.
“We are thrilled to feature Paul Feig and Scott Herbst in an exclusive conversation during our Digital Summit,” said Ferne Cohen, Content Canada CEO. “Mr. Feig’s incredible creativity and Lionsgate’s scripted television group under Mr. Herbst’s accomplished leadership have formed a strong partnership generating great premium content. Their thought leadership and insights will be invaluable to our audience, and we can’t wait to share their session.”
