Valerie Creighton to receive inaugural Content Canada Impact Award

C21’s Content Canada has announced Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, Canada Media Fund (CMF), as the recipient of its inaugural Impact Award.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the CMF, which is responsible for funding approximately C$350 million annually towards the creation of original Canadian television and digital media content, as well as promoting and fostering the Canadian media industry.

Valerie CreightonAs president and CEO of the CMF, Valerie is celebrated for fiercely championing Canada’s place in the global media industry, and expertly promoting its original content. Among her many accolades she was invested into the Order of Canada in December, 2019.

“We are honoured to recognize Valerie Creighton with our inaugural Impact Award”, said Ferne Cohen, Content Canada CEO. “Valerie has distinguished herself throughout her prestigious career as one of Canada’s most renowned advocates, and is responsible for funding millions of hours of exceptional Canadian content. We hope the industry will feel inspired by this much-deserved tribute, and will look forward to Valerie and the CMF’s continued great work to help Canadian creators and storytellers.”

The Impact Award will be presented to Valerie Creighton as part of Content Canada’s Digital Summit, taking place in September 2020.
