Matthew Miller (Writer and Producer) is the co-founder and president of Zapruder Films in Toronto. Working with director Matt Johnson he has developed a reputation for tackling challenging material that weaves historical fact with fiction and plays with filmmaking conventions and aesthetics to defy audience expectation. Matthew has written, directed and produced numerous projects that have racked up awards and screened at many of the world’s top film festivals including Sundance, Berlin, TIFF & Busan. Projects include the feature films Surviving Crooked Lake (2007), The Dirties (2013), Operation Avalanche (2016) and BlackBerry (2023). On the television side he was Executive Producer and series writer for two seasons of the much beloved Nirvanna the Band the Show for VICELAND and the animated series Matt & Bird Break Loose on Amazon. Matthew also teaches film production at York University where he studied as a young cinephile in the early aughts.
