Melanie is a member of Minegoziibe Anishinabek. She splits her time between Winnipeg and Toronto. She is currently leading the WBD DEI efforts in Canada where she oversees the design and implementation of initiatives that foster diverse Canadian talent in the screen-based industry.
Prior to this role, she was a network executive at APTN and then CBC where she managed a slate of projects in development and production. Melanie has overseen over a hundred hours of television and film projects in every genre and format.
She also contributes to the industry by sitting on the Board of Directors for imagineNATIVE, National Screen Institute and Cousin Collective. And she is on the Indigenous Advisory Board for Toronto International Film Festival.
