Melissa Grelo has been co-host and moderator of THE SOCIAL since it first hit the airwaves
in 2013. Since then, she has been part of leading important discussions with change
markers, including a one-on-one interview with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for a CTV
special, and interviewing the hottest celebrities, musicians, and authors from around the
globe. Grelo is also a contributing host on CTV YOUR MORNING and previously, woke up
Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area on the most-watched morning news program, CP24
BREAKFAST.
As Canada watched from the edge of their couches, Grelo gave the front-row perspective
when she co-hosted CTV’s OLYMPIC MORNING program from Vancouver 2010 in Whistler,
B.C. No stranger to glitz and glamour, Grelo has covered the Toronto International Film
Festival® red carpets since 2009, and was in Los Angeles in 2013 reporting for CP24 and
CTV from the prestigious ACADEMY AWARDS®. She has also hosted CTV’s annual
broadcast of THE ORIGINAL SANTA CLAUS PARADE since 2010. She has contributed to
shows and specials on Discovery Channel and TSN. In recent years, Grelo has combined her
passions for horses and fashion by contributing to TSN’s coverage of the Queen’s Plate,
North America’s oldest continuously-run thoroughbred race, and the accompanying wildly
popular and glamorous Hats and Horseshoes Party. A passionate advocate for women’s
health, in 2024 she launched Aging Powerfully with Melissa Grelo, a podcast where she
interviews experts who provide evidence-based insights in healthy living for women of all
ages.
In 2019, Grelo was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN
Network.
Grelo is a multiple Canadian Screen Award winner having won Best Host, Web Program or
Series for #BellLetsTalkLive in 2020. For her work on The Social, Grelo has been part of the
teams who won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Talk Program or Series in 2020 and Best
Host, Lifestyle in 2024.
When away from the studio, Grelo enjoys horseback riding on her family’s farm, fitness
training, and travelling with her family. She is a mom to an intrepid daughter. As a former
teacher, education and giving back to the youth community is very important to her. She has
given her time as an ambassador to GEM, Girls E-Mentorship, providing guidance to young
women who face challenges to post-secondary success. She also supports organizations
such as BOOST Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and has worked with charities like
Artbound, which strives to help create sustainable change in developing countries through
the arts. During the pandemic, Grelo organized hot lunches for frontline workers in long-term
care facilities across Toronto in partnership with local restaurants.
Grelo is also committed to protecting wildlife and habitats in Canada and across the world. In
2020, she joined the Board of Directors at the World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWF Canada).
She has also raised funds and supported the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (OSPCA) and the Community Association for Riding for the Disabled.
