Shayla Oulette Stonechild is a proud Red River Métis and Nehiyaw iskwew (Plains Cree woman) from Muscowpetung First Nations. She is dedicated to empowering Indigenous youth and women by sharing her journey and addressing issues like suicide within Indigenous communities. Shayla is the Founder and Host of the “Matriarch Movement,” an online platform, podcast, and non-profit that amplifies Indigenous voices and offers wellness workshops across Canada.  As a global yoga ambassador for lululemon, Shayla has over 800 hours of yoga teacher training and has been featured on the cover of “Yoga Journal” Magazine as the first Indigenous person to do so. She has taught yoga to large audiences and served on lululemon’s “Diversity and Inclusion” committee and their global advisory board for mental health.  Shayla has also appeared on Season 9 of “Amazing Race: Canada” and hosted several TV shows, earning two Canadian Screen Awards for her work with ET Canada’s “Artists & Icons: Indigenous Entertainers in Canada.” In 2022, she received the Indspire Award for “First Nations Youth.”  Through over 40 brand collaborations and recognition from major media outlets, Shayla focuses on themes like language revitalization, matriarchy, and Indigenous advocacy. She continues to be a powerful advocate for Indigenous rights and representation in mainstream media.
